Biography

Christopher Odinet is a Professor of Law at Texas A&M University School of Law, holding secondary positions at Texas A&M as a Mosbacher Research Fellow and Affiliate Professor of Finance with research interests in property law, commercial law, and consumer finance. He is currently a Senior Research Fellow in the Public Policy Center at the University of Iowa and a co-editor of The Business Lawyer’s Annual Survey of Consumer Finance Law published by the American Bar Association, an elected member of the American Law Institute as well as the European Law Institute, and a fellow of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers. Among his extensive involvement in law reform organizations, Professor Odinet served as a two-time commissioner to the Uniform Law Commission, previously reporting for committees on cryptocurrency transactions in real estate and tenancy-in-common real property, and he is now studying commercial law in carbon credit markets. For his contributions to the discipline of commercial finance, he was honored with the American College of Commercial Finance Lawyers’ Grant Gilmore Award in 2023. He earned his J.D. from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University.
