Biography

Julianna Pacheco is Professor of political science at the University of Iowa and an Andrew Carnegie Fellow 2024-2026. She received a Ph.D. in political science from Pennsylvania State University and postdoctoral training as a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Health and Society Scholar at the University of Michigan. Her research sits at the nexus of political science and population health. Her work has appeared in journal outlets such as the Journal of Politics, the American Journal of Public Health, Journal of Health Policy, Politics and Law, and the Political Research Quarterly and has been funded by the National Science Foundation, the Russell Sage Foundation, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. In addition to working on the DAP project, she is also co-PI of the Iowa Vital Voices Project, which aims to uplift the voices of Latinos and immigrants living in Iowa in hopes of achieving political equality and health equity.
